Dr. Jerry Suelflow sub specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous at the Medical Center Eye Institute. In 1981, he obtained his medical degree, followed by an ophthalmology residency, from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After receiving retinal surgery subspecialty training at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Dr. Jerry Suelflow completed four years as an Air Force ophthalmologist at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Dr. Jerry Suelflows special interest involves diseases affecting the retina including macular degeneration, diabetes, and retinal detachment surgery. He is actively involved in the most recent advances in retinal diagnosis, including digital fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography. Dr. Jerry Suelflow uses many advanced surgical techniques, including intraocular gases and oils, lasers, microsurgical instruments, and sutureless vitrectomy surgery. Dr. Suelflow was a co-investigator in several national programs that demonstrated the benefits of laser treatment in diabetic eye disease.
