Dr. Michael Redmond earned his medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine, then served an internship in internal medicine before spending two years in the Army as a general medical officer. Following his military service, Dr. Redmond returned to St. Louis University Hospital Group to complete his residency in ophthalmology. He then traveled to the University of Iowa where he completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. Since joining the West Florida Medical Center Clinic in 1975, Dr. Redmond has limited his practice to these areas.
Dr. Michael Redmond has been very active in organized medicine at local, state, and national levels. He has traveled and lectured extensively on both clinical and socioeconomic medical issues.
Dr. Michael Redmond's areas of greatest interest and concentration are in childrens visual developmental problems (amblyopia) and eye muscle disorders (strabismus). However, he cares for all types of children's eye disorders and their associated problems (genetic, traumatic, and refractive). Because of his background and experience with eye muscle disorders, Dr. Redmond also cares for adults in this one area.
